Big J - 'Rollin in my pimpmobile'Le visuale section of theglasslab has been updated for I, Goorasseye, spent most of last night loading a plethora of propitious pictures for your pleasure. I posted four new albums: 2001 Worlds, 2001 West Coast Regionals, 2001 Nationals, and the Duncan Gig we did at Universal Studios so check `em out. muy spintastico.

Did you check out Sector Y’s new PSY trailer? Big Booty Badness!!! Must… Watch… Again… the power of Citadel’s glasses compel you.

Fakies, the new Skateboard Wheel Yo-Yo
So here’s a first glimpse at the “Fakies” yo-yo. Don’t they look pimp? The first series will have 24 different yo-yos. They will all have the same shape, but they will be printed with 6 different graphics each from World Industries, Birdhouse, Blind, and Speed Demons. Will they make a good one-handed yo-yo? Not likely. The gap is not tapered at all so if you’re not very accurate, the string will land on the rim instead of the gap and roll right off. So will they make good two-handers? Possibly, with some modding. At this point it’s really hard to say since I’ve only played with the first few prototypes.  Supposedly they are going to send me the first complete set of yo-yos so once I get them, I’ll post a review.

Just want to say thanks for all the readers hanging in there that keep checking back here. I have some great updates that will be coming up soon. First I have a ton of pictures to post from recent contests. Also, our National Champ Jaysaw Reee, our World top champ Feefers, our favorite lady in the scene Jen Niles, and me, Goorasseye (as Hironori would call me) did a Duncan demo over the weekend in Universal Studios in the backlot where they shot the Back to the Future clock scene. We snuck around the movie sets a little and took a few pictures.

What else…. a new yo-yo is being introduced called “Fakies” by Global styles. Basically, it resembles a skateboard wheel cut in two and made into a yo-yo with graphics by World Industries, Birdhouse, Blind, and Speed Demons. They had me test out their prototypes and provide them with some feedback. The prototypes needed some work, hopefully when they send me the production versions, the changes will have been made. I’ll post some pictures soon.

Other exciting things that will be happening are the addition of a triple A section by Mark McBride. It’s still in the process of being implemented and may end up being an entire separate sight of it’s own. But Bride told me one of the original plans was to integrate it into theglasslab. In either scenario, you should be seeing some kick booty stuff in the AAA scene soon.

Lastly, I’ll be adding another section that’ll be completely devoted to the Who, What, Why, When, and Where of the Double XL Crew. Many of you have seen the shirts and stickers, but still have no idea what we’re all about. So I’ll get that rolling soon. That’s about it for now. I have a ton of video footage I want to get out there for you guys, but I need to upgrade my hard drive and I just can’t afford it right now. But Christmas is coming up soon and I know what I’ll be asking for.

I’m still alive. Yup, I’ve been real busy with other things. If you’re here to find out the latest stuff that’s happening about yo-yos, that’ll probably come in my next update. This update is just to let all of you know what the heck happened to me in the past few weeks.

A couple of weeks ago, I joined the unemployed ranks. You’d figure that since I had more time on my hand I’d start updating more, right? Well, it was the complete opposite. I felt guilty for doing anything that wouldn’t help pay the bills. I couldn’t even turn on the TV during the day without feeling like a total loser. So I started waking up earlier and going to sleep later. Spent more time figuring out what I wanted to do with my life. I went to college and got my degree in computer science a few years ago. The pay is great in the computer field, but it is a thankless job and also highly stressful. Not only that, but all of the political B.S. that goes on at these I.T. corporations made me sick at times. So now I’m at the point where I’m not sure if I want to continue to pursue programming. I’ve been thinking about becoming a businessman. I’ve always wanted to be my own boss, it’s just scary not having a steady income. Especially when the bills never stop coming in. Whatever I do, I’m going to have to do it quick, cause I’m not digging this feeling of sitting idle. I need to keep creating and learning cause when I stop, I feel like I’m dying. Anyways, that’s my story right now. I know alot of you have been concerned with downloading all those videos that aren’t currently working. Don’t worry, that’s on my to do list. They’ll be up and running soon.

Before I go, I just wanted to say a few words on Nationals. First off, to Jason Lee… damn son, you done tore up that contest! I always knew you could do it. And it’s about damn time that one of the boys became national champion. And just because you’re a national champion doesn’t mean you don’t need no edumucation so hit those books, aite? Steve, what can I say man. Seeing you become one of the national masters made the all-night 8 hour drive all worth it. You also made the entire crew proud when you waved your DXL flag high on your way up to pick up the award. If you ever need to sell one of those patches… you know who to call. Bride, thanks for putting all the work into making those stickers. Membership pending… hahaha nuff said. I’m gonna stop right here, cause I just realized I’m gonna end up writing another novel. But to the rest of the crew and you know who you are… thanks for making the trip fun. DXL Worldwide baby.
