Strange Days I just got in a new video from your favorite Indy guy and mine, Takeshi. The video is called “Strange Days” and you can find it in the “Indy Research Files” section of the Large Videos page. Go to the page for more detailed information. After watching it you’ll cry “Mommy make it stop!” but you won’t be able to close your eyes. You’ll just keep watching it, it’ll take over your life. Then you’re friends will be all, “Damn son, don’t you do anything besides watching that video?” And you’ll sit there, look up at your friends, pause, throw the official “Rock-on” hand sign, stick your tongue out and head bang. Watch the video for yourself if you don’t believe me. Just don’t go out and sue me when you realize I was telling the truth, ok? Instead, you can sue Takeshi for all the recessed mods he has at his house.

Sometimes you just gotta love life in the “OC” (I guess this is how they refer to us now). Orange County baybee! I was driving from my house to the freeway when this Convertible Ferrari pulled right up along side me at the stoplight. I glanced at him, he glanced at me… and it was on baybee. Oh yes, it was ON! The light turned green and I slammed on my accelerator and left the poor bastard in the dust. That’s another victory for me and my GMC Safari.

…so what if he didn’t know we were racing. I beat a friggin Ferrari! =)

OC FairOh man what a night. I went to the Orange County Fair last night to celebrate my birthday and had a great time with Sibyl, Felix, and my cousins. Then we went back home and ended up watching violent, bloody Japanese flicks all night long (i.e. Battle Royale). And somewhere in between the total blur of a night, I was able to upload all the SWR freestyles to the Observational Footage section on the Large Videos page. Scroll all the way torwards the bottom and you’ll find them there.

Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes. You guys keep me feeling young. Rock.

The Southwest Regionals kicked booty. A major thanks to everyone who helped support the contest and made it one of the best contests L.A. has had in a while. First off I need to send out some shouts…

To Ben McPhee for the new Assassin (or whatever you decide to name it… this yo-yo is as smooth as the Grind Monster, but grinds even better thanks to a new material they’re using!), To Mo for the mo-dified FH1 (BTW, I got used to the response and never put it down now!) To Dave Bazan for the insane hookups (check out his new SPR spacer system… much more stable than the original!). To Bride for putting on one heck of a contest and for the shirts. To Fee for moving my van before I got a ticket and for the bday pie. To Jen and Erik for once again hosting the best backyard BBQ in L.A. To Paul Yath for the PYFT hookups (Try them out if you can, super smooth). Gotta also send a shout to Ringca-power for getting that stuff to me. Deacachimba!

And of course to Sir Rick, Johnnie D, Spencematic, Eli, Nika, Ambri, Adam, Jamie, Pat, Stu, Bill De Blahblehblah, Jason Ree, James Lac, James B., Mr. Reeves, Cappy, Jon K., Huber, Taylor, Matt, Kate, Jimmy Aaron, Aox, Yoshi, Nate, Manda, Team Coy, Jeremiah, and Bonnie for just being the coolest peeople to kick back and laugh with. (Ugh, I just know I’m forgetting someone… my apologies in advance).

Last but not least, I want to thank my wife Sibyl for always supporting me in all my endeavors even if it means giving up her sleep-till-noon Saturdays.

Also a big wassup to all the new faces I met (I won’t be able to remember all your names just yet but I’ll get there).

Now onto what you’ve probably been waiting for… the SWR clip vid! It’s called Experiment 06 (wow don’t I just have the most original names?) and it’s waiting for you in the Large Videos section! Freestyles will probably be up by the end of next week. Please don’t ask me for them. They’ll be up when I have a couple hours to spare, promise. Well that’s all for today childrens.

It’s been a long time coming and 5A master Rafael Matsunaga has just released his latest video. Find it in the Brazilian Archives under the Large Videos section! After watching this video myself and being absolutely amazed at everything for the 13th time, I have but one question for Rafa… Is it normal for people in Brazil to walk down the middle of the street with a giant balloon?

In other news, I had the priviledge of doing some Duncan demonstrations down in San Diego for military personnel at the Navy Exchange stores this past Saturday. I have one word of advice to anyone in San Diego who has military access… go down to the North Island store right now and buy your Duncan Freehands there. The best price I’ve ever seen. That’s probably why Felix decided to join the military. So he can shop at the Navy Exchange and buy Duncan Freehands at a ridiculously low price.

I’ve never seen so many kids bug their parents to buy them a yo-yo, it was great. Of course some parents were stiffs and came up with the lamest excuses to not buy their child a yo-yo such as… “you’re too short to play with a yo-yo.” Lame!

Lastly, I just wanted to give a shoutout to Bobby who goes by the name Ultimate Khaoz on the boards for coming down and hanging out. He’s been yoing less than a year and is already kicking much booty. He is now in love with my 1st generation Duncan Freehand. He owns a Hyper Freehand, but still prefers the FH1. All hail the power of the mighty FH1!
