The DXL Crew will be meeting up in Southern California this Saturday at 1pm in City Plaza in Artesia.
11700 South St.
Artesia, CA 90701
We’ll be gathering around the fountain. There are lots of nearby places to eat and shop if you want to bring your family. All ages and skill levels are welcome. Hope to see you there.
THE DXL CREW is back from Nationals… we tore it up once again bringing home two national titles this year. Congratulations to Paul Yath and Miguel Correa. Last years 1A champ Yuuki Spencer was disqualified for having explicit lyrics in his music during his 1 minute prelim. Now ain’t that a damn shame? It’s all good though, we got to give others a chance. I also want to congratulate Mark Montgomery, Paul Han, Adam Dennehy, Yoshi Mikamoto, and Hank Freeman for representing, getting past prelims and doing their 3 minutes. And love goes out to all the rest who partied with us and gave us the respect we deserve. It don’t matter that we still haven’t brought home a best team trophy… we are undeniably the best damn crew around and will continue to be. It’s no wonder they hate.
Double Xtra Love,
Nope, I’ve been here all along. So what happened? Life, in short. I never stopped yo-yoing, it’s just that updating this website was no longer a priority in my life. So why am I blogging now all of a sudden? Well, I’ve come to the understanding from speaking to many people recently that this website has actually had an impact on many of the players today. Way more than I realized. I always hoped that all the stuff I’ve done would have a positive influence on our community.
I’ve had alot of people asking when I was going to update theglasslab and then go on to tell me that they still check the site to this day to see if anything new has been posted (even though the last post was over three years ago). Others have come up to tell me that theglasslab was a major influence on them getting into yo-yoing. Hearing these things have always humbled me and gave me the urge to start posting again, but I would always get sidetracked with work, family (I now have a kick-ass son!), and other important things in my life.
But recently, two people that I have the utmost respect for told me that if it weren’t for me, they would have stopped yo-yoing a long time ago. I was very taken back by that statement, because the two people who said that to me were Yuuki Spencer and Jason Lee… the very same players who have been considered by many as the best players of all time. Talk about an ego boost!
So that brings us to now. I feel that I owe it to all of you to update you on what’s going on with me and with the website. There are so many things that I want to do for our community, but I’ve realized that I can’t do them all (especially if I want to keep my wife and family happy!). So my main focus right now is running The DXL Crew and rebuilding the local yo-yo scene in Southern California. It’s funny how many of the new players have no idea who The DXL Crew is, but a few years back we made our presence known at all the major contests. From the advice of Paul Yath, I made a myspace for The DXL Crew… you can check it out and learn more about us at http://www.myspace.com/dxlcrew. Also check out my personal myspace at http://www.myspace.com/ninjareflexes and add me! I also made a few videos a few months back and posted them up at youtube. You can check them out at http://www.youtube.com/theglasslab. So you see, I’m still around… you just have to know where to look. Hopefully, I’ll find sometime in the future to update this website and start posting again… at least semi-annually hehe. Here’s to hoping. In the meantime here’s a little blog I posted earlier on the DXL Crew myspace:
