The House of 4-Points is made of tricks where the yo is mounted onto or played off of the other string. When you play one yo off the other yos string you have to leave that yo uncommitted to take up the slack. With most traditionally mounted Triple A mounts, you have two fixed points (your hands) and the yos strings are mounted off of them with the yo extending as far down or out as the string will let it. In this set up the string slack is all taken up by the one yo. When you have a yo interacting with strings that arent all on the same pull you have two options: the first is that the strings have to be exactly identical in all their lengths, but this usually doesnt happen. The other option is that you leave one yo open to hang or pull. This keeps that string taught to be played off of and is the essence of the House of 4-points. The name House of 4-Points comes from the fact that most mounted tricks have essentially 2 sets of 3 points. These tricks that have to leave one yo open and have another interacting mid string do not have 6 points; they usually have 4 and thus the name. The House of 4-Points is one of the more dignified houses and is steeped in tradition, after all it was founded by the genius Sky Kiyabu and is currently run by members of Rhown Die Die. As such the House will respect and encompass tricks that are considered 4 Point tricks in that they are unevenly, open mounted tricks. So even though the fundamental pillar of the House is the idea of one hanging yo and the other yo playing off of it, The House of 4-Points is probably the loosest category above the Rogue Elements of tricks. |
